Long ago I had a friend who was truly a hard worker, but one of the things he always said was, "It's good enough for government work." We don't want our own government workers to have an attitude like that. We definitely don't want people working for us in our private lives who have that attitude.
Why would it surprise us that God wants us to be earnest in our service to him?
